Ellsworth's Asset Mapping Project Recognized with 2022 Downtown Project of the Year Award!

Maine Downtown Center has awarded Manifesting Main - Asset Mapping Downtown Ellsworth with its 2022 Downtown Project of the Year Award

Recognizing that Ellsworth’s comprehensive plan was last updated in 2014 and the downtown had never completed an asset mapping project, the Heart of Ellsworth board set a goal to engage a broad spectrum of community members and collectively set a strategic direction for the Heart of Ellsworth, the City of Ellsworth, businesses, and the downtown commercial district as a whole.

This project was a collaborative effort with the City of Ellsworth, sponsored by Franklin Savings Bank with support from the Maine Community Foundation and led by HUB Collective

Heart of Ellsworth board members will attend the 2023 Maine Downtown Center Annual Awards Celebration on April 26 at 2 p.m. to receive the award.

Water Street Mural Explained
We heard you!

Since the completion of the Water Street Mural, there's been a lot of buzz around the project, including questions about what each element means. Each element, or "reveal," either celebrates Ellsworth's heritage or offers a nod to our community's future (or both!).

We're happy to share that you can now find a mural key on the Heart of Ellsworth website. Click through each thumbnail to learn more about each element and why it was chosen to be a part of the mural.
So many of you have told us how much downtown Ellsworth means to you, how a vibrant downtown has enriched your life or increased your sense of pride and connection to place.

Perhaps you participated in one of our events, stopped to take in the Water Street Mural or downtown wayfinding map, enjoyed the free outdoor summer concert in the parklet, received one of our downtown grants, enjoyed a cider + cheese bag, took part in our tasting event, or pressed apples as part of the Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival. Maybe you or your child took part in our asset mapping event, Manifesting Main or hiked the refurbished trail behind the library or tuned in for Meet the Candidates forum or just simply enjoyed the flowers and holiday lights on Main Street. However you interfaced with Heart of Ellsworth this past year we hope you will take a moment to support us before the end of the year.

With your help, we can increase the number of people who have access to a vibrant and thriving downtown community!

Thank you for your support of Heart of Ellsworth!
