Free Downtown Summer Concert with Oshima Brothers

August 31: 7-9 p.m.
Franklin Street Parklet

We're partnering with WERU Community Radio to bring Portland, ME-based brothers Jamie and Sean Oshima and their eclectic sound to the Franklin Street Parklet (142 Main St.). Oshima Brothers have been performing together since they were kids and their music blends contemporary folk and acoustic pop.

Special thanks to our sponsors Franklin Savings Bank and City of Ellsworth for helping us bring you this FREE concert

Join us to watch them perform live in our beautiful downtown.

New Outdoor Community Dining Space

Heather and Tommy Florio, owners of Desert Harvest, restored an outdoor community dining space in front of their building last year, welcoming all members of the Ellsworth community (residents and visitors alike) to use while downtown. In the spirit of partnership, they invited the Heart of Ellsworth Design Committee to collaborate by painting the patio furniture to further make the space bright and welcoming.

You may have noticed the space is spruced up, the chairs are painted and Tommy and Heather added the Maine flags with rainbows along the retaining wall. We were very excited to assist to help complete Heather and Tommy's vision of a community space.

Feel free to use the space the next time you're downtown!

 Trees on Main Street

We hope you've had the opportunity to see the beautiful Trees on Main Street. This program seeks to encourage more trees on Main Street and is in support of Green Ellsworth's goal to plant more trees around our city. We want to thank all members of our Design Committee, our sponsors, Hilts Landscaping for donating the American arborvitae trees, Garden Artisan, and the City of Ellsworth for support of this initiative.

We still need a few watering volunteers to help us fill slots in August, September and October (we only need volunteers to water once during their week). Want to help us out?

 Farm Drop Ellsworth

Farm Drop Ellsworth is here! Have you viewed the site yet to see the great offerings from a ton of local farmers, producers, and artisans? There's produce, yogurt and cheese, flowers, meat and so many more products.

Check out the site, place your order each week by Monday, and then pick up your goods at the Ellsworth Public Library (20 State St.) on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m.

We've also created a new Ellsworth Food Systems page on the Heart of Ellsworth website. It's a list of local food resources (like Farm Drop) to help connect community members with affordable, high-quality food in downtown Ellsworth. Check it out to find fresh food programs in our downtown.

So many of you have told us how much downtown Ellsworth means to you, how a vibrant downtown has enriched your life or increased your sense of pride and connection to place.

Perhaps you participated in one of our events, stopped to take in the Water Street Mural or downtown wayfinding map, enjoyed the free outdoor summer concert in the parklet, received one of our downtown grants, enjoyed a cider + cheese bag, took part in our tasting event, or pressed apples as part of the Downeast Cider + Cheese Festival. Maybe you or your child took part in our asset mapping event, Manifesting Main or hiked the refurbished trail behind the library or tuned in for Meet the Candidates forum or just simply enjoyed the flowers and holiday lights on Main Street. However you interfaced with Heart of Ellsworth this past year we hope you will take a moment to support us this year.

With your help, we can increase the number of people who have access to a vibrant and thriving downtown community!
