Meet Drew Pierson 2022/23 Student Board Member

The Heart of Ellsworth Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Drew Pierson has been chosen as the second student to serve on the Heart of Ellsworth Board of Directors. 

Student voices are vital for the future of Ellsworth and the development of the Heart of Ellsworth Board. When notified about the board appointment, Pierson's response was: "I am looking forward to working with the board of directors of Heart of Ellsworth along with community volunteers. I will take this role very seriously as I am not only using my own voice but will be echoing the voices of students and young people of Ellsworth. I feel together we can reach many goals and create new opportunities and events for all to enjoy."  

The full voting rights student position includes one board meeting per month plus involvement in events and programs that take place during the calendar year. Pierson is expected to attend hour and a half long monthly board meetings (in person and/or on Zoom), check email, and be an engaged participant at board meetings. 

The creation of the student board of directors position was one of many goals resulting from a strategic planning session in 2019 supported by the Maine Community Foundation.
